Diabetes yang tidak dikawal boleh memberi kesan buruk kepada kesihatan secara menyeluruh serta menyebabkan komplikasi seperti penyakit jantung, kerosakan saraf atau buah pinggang. Kempen Glucerna® #StartsWithYou telah menampilkan kisah kejayaan rakyat Malaysia yang menyertai program intervensi gaya hidup selama empat minggu anjuran Abbott, termasuk pemakanan seimbang dan senaman fizikal. Dengan memaparkan kisah ini dan mengundang orang ramai untuk berkongsi perjalanan pengurusan diabetes mereka, Abbott berharap dapat memberi inspirasi dan motivasi kepada penghidap diabetes untuk menjalani kehidupan yang lebih sihat dan bermakna.

Menurut Dr. Nina Mazera Mohd Said, Pengarah Perubatan Pemakanan Abbott Malaysia,

"Kadar penyakit diabetes yang tinggi di Malaysia menunjukkan betapa pentingnya untuk memupuk kesedaran individu tentang pengurusan kesihatan dan amalan gaya hidup sihat. Program Perubahan Gaya Hidup Glucerna® ini telah membantu ramai penghidap diabetes menguruskan tahap glukosa mereka melalui perubahan gaya hidup termasuk pemakanan seimbang dan senaman. Kakak teruja sangat bila mendengar kisah inspirasi daripada Miss Ainaa Munirah Pang, seorang Chef berusia 39 tahun yang merupakan "diabetic survivor". Beliau disahkan menghidap diabetis jenis 2 pada usia 27 tahun. Yup, usia yang muda tak bermakna kita tak boleh dapat diabetis tau! Dengan menyertai Program Perubahan Gaya Hidup Glucerna® (GLCP), Miss Ainaa telah berjaya mencapai tahap glukosa yang sihat.

Menurut Miss Ainaa "Having diabetic is not end of the world", dengan mengamalkan gaya hidup dan pemakanan yang sihat, diabetis boleh dikawal.

Tambah beliau lagi,

"Penyertaan saya dalam program ini adalah satu perubahan hidup kepada saya. Program ini bukan sekadar mengawal paras glukosa, tetapi saya juga menerima sokongan dalam komuniti serta mampu membuat perubahan kecil yang memberi impak besar.''

Program Perubahan Gaya Hidup Glucerna® (GLCP)

Program Perubahan Gaya Hidup Glucerna® (GLCP) yang dilancarkan pada 2021 merupakan program yang merangkumi panduan tentang pengurusan diabetes, perkongsian maklumat mengenai diet seimbang, formula pemakanan khusus diabetes, senaman serta kepentingan pemantauan glukosa secara berkala. Dalam program ini, para peserta dapat mempelajari cara menangani keletihan akibat diabetes termasuk cabaran lain yang boleh mengganggu komitmen mereka dalam mencegah penyakit tersebut. Menerusi program ini juga, mereka diberi pendidikan mengenai pengurusan diabetes oleh para doktor dan pakar diet yang terlatih. Sehingga hari ini, lebih 200 peserta telah menyertai program GLCP dan berjaya memperbaiki pengurusan diabetes mereka.

Selain daripada perkongsian Miss Ainaa, kakak juga mendapat pelbagai input menarik daripada Dr. Zanariah Hussein, Ketua Unit Endokrin di Hospital Putrajaya. Menurut beliau,

"Ramai rakyat Malaysia yang menghidap diabetes mempunyai masalah obesiti atau berat badan berlebihan. Oleh itu, intervensi gaya hidup yang terancang, pengurusan pemakanan dan sistem sokongan yang kukuh boleh membantu mengawal berat badan dan status kesihatan mereka. Pendekatan yang menyeluruh menerusi program GLCP juga membolehkan penghidap diabetes menguruskan kesihatan mereka dengan lebih baik dan secara tidak langsung memperbaiki kualiti hidup mereka."

Takut tau bila tengok statistik diabetis yang semakin meningkat naik tu. Nak pulak rakyat Malaysia ni memang sejenis "kaki makan" termasuklah kakak sendiri. Haaa, mana yang rajin food hunting tu, kenalah rajin-rajin check kadar gula dalam darah secara berkala tau. Kakak pulak memang ada genetik yang menghidap diabetis, lagilah tak boleh nak pandang enteng mengenai penyakit diabetis ni!

Selain tu, kakak juga dapat ilmu dari Pakar Perunding Diet, Indra Balaratnam. Menurut beliau,

"Faktor pemakanan adalah sangat penting dalam pengurusan diabetes. Penghidap diabetes perlu lebih sedar akan tabiat pemakanan mereka dan membuat pilihan yang bijak. Sama ada melalui perancangan makanan, snek berkhasiat atau memasak di rumah menggunakan ramuan segar, mereka perlu mengamalkan pemakanan seimbang yang merangkumi sayur-sayuran, buah-buahan, bijirin, dan protein tanpa lemak."

Miss Indra juga sempat berkongsi info pemakanan modul pinggan sihat Malaysia dan juga resepi sihat. Sedap betul bau masakan dia tau!
