ASSALAMUALAIKUM AND GOOD DAY!
Changhua Country to Host Another
Adrenaline-Pumping Round of SuperMoto Championship
CHANGHUA, TAIWAN, 13 NOVEMBER 2017 – After successful races in Thailand and Indonesia, the 2017 FIM Asia SuperMoto Championship will now head to Changhua County, Taiwan for another exciting action-packed round on Saturday and Sunday, 18 and 19 November 2017, from 10:00AM to 6:00PM (+8:00GMT). As the season reaches a midway point, the qualifying and main races on Sunday will soon determine who gets even closer to the overall championship title.
United Kingdom’s Lewis Cornish, who leads the Open International Class scoreboard with a total of 100 points is followed closely by the Asian Class leaders namely, Thailand’s Trakarn Thangthong and Malaysia’s Khairi Zakaria. The trio have outpaced 2016 champion, Malaysia’s Muhd Habibullah and will continue the battle of speed and skills in Taiwan.
“We are pleased and excited as this will be our first Asia SuperMoto Championship in Taiwan, which is renowned for hosting two-wheel motorsport events with high safety standards. Moreover, with the championship moving into the third round of the season, fans all over the world can expect another high-adrenaline race by our riders,” said Andrew Ching, CEO of E-Plus Global Sdn Bhd.
The 1.2-kilometre circuit at Changhua County is slightly similar to the Thailand Circuit Motorsport Complex, with long straights dominating the track. However, the main difference will be the single off-road section with eight whoops and two table-tops, stretching as long as 200-metres. The dirt section could be an added advantage for highly trained motocross riders, such as Trakarn and Khairi.
The K1 Circuit has broader turns compared to the Indonesia’s track and the long straights on the asphalt section will provide the primary area of competition. This also means that a holeshot lead will barely determine the rider’s position at the end of the race.
